Drug Uses
Carafate is used for curing and prevention of ulcers. It may also be used for other situations as suggested by your doctor.
How Taken
Use Carafate as recommended by your physician. Use Carafate on an empty stomach at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal. Do not use an antacid for at least 30 minutes before or after taking Carafate. It can take 4 to 8 weeks for complete healing of your ulcer. Continue taking Carafate for the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Don't take Carafate at the same time as other drugs. Use Carafate at least two hours after other drugs. If you are not sure about the best time to use Carafate, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
