Drug Uses
Neurontin is used for curing of seizures associated with epilepsy. It can also be used for curing nerve pain associated with herpes zoster (shingles) infection (postherpetic neuralgia). Neurontin may also be used for other situation as recommended by your doctor.
How Taken
Use Neurontin as directed by your doctor. Take Neurontin with or without a meal. Do not take an antacid containing aluminum or magnesium within 2 hours before you take Neurontin. Don't suddenly stop taking Neurontin. You may have an increased risk of side effects (eg, seizures). If you need to stop taking Neurontin or add a new medicine, your physician will gradually lower your dosage.
Additional Information
Neurontin may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. These effects may worsen if Neurontin is taken with alcohol or certain other medications. Use Neurontin with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly negative tasks until you know how you react to this drug. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, contact your doctor. This medicine should be used only by the patient for whom it has been directed. Don't take less or more or take it more often than advised by your physician.
